The best five reasons to have a massage

Massage therapy is both time and modern research proven discipline to make us feel better. It is the combination of relief of physical pains and tensions together with mental relaxation that makes massage therapy so popular. What are the five best reasons to have a massage? What are the five best benefits of massage?

  1. Stress relief
It is commonly accepted by medical science that stress has negative effect on our all body systems. It is not only your emotional health and your mood that suffer from stress but your overall physical health as well. Unchecked and unresolved stress contributes to high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, digestive problems and many more health worries. Prolonged stress, anxiety and depression leads to number of inflammatory illnesses. According to survey on stress and wellbeing conducted by the Australian Psychological Association in 2015, 21% of Australians reported moderate to severe level of stress and one in eight reported severe symptoms of anxiety and depression. Regular massage treatments are very beneficial in managing and easing the symptoms of stress and thus preventing further health problems in the future.

   2. Muscles and joints pains and tensions
Most of us feel some muscle pains and aches from time to time. Massage therapy is an excellent way to restore balance in your muscles after heavy physical work or demanding exercise. That is not the only way our muscles get sore though. Our everyday postural habits put pressure on our bodies. The way we sit, stand, walk and move affects our posture and the health of our muscles and joints. And of course, stress and anxiety play a big role in muscle pain and tension. Due to stress blood vessels get constricted and blood supply into soft tissues is reduced. Massage encourages blood flow to the tissues and directly stretches tight muscles, relaxes overuse muscles and reduces cramps and muscle spasms.

   3. Immunity boost
Regular massage therapy sessions have been shown to make the immune system stronger. According to research a massage increases the activity of the body's blood white cells that fight viruses. So why not to use a regular massage to keep healthy over winter?

   4.  Tension headaches
Tension headaches are very often caused by stress, improper posture and muscle tension in the area of
upper back and neck. Regular massage is a way to prevent and treat tension headaches.

   5. Skin tone improvement
Massage can improve the look and health of your skin due to increased circulation and tension reduction. Sebum (oily matter that lubricates the skin and is secreted by sebaceous glands in the skin) production is also increased so that your skin is moisturised and softened.

Although I've given you only five benefits of regular massage there are many more. The best way is to experience the magic of remedial massage for yourself!
