Marie Thomas is a remedial massage therapist and yoga teacher who has been practising yoga and actively studying its philosophy since 1994. Her goal is to improve your quality of life through massage, meditation and yoga tailored specifically to your needs. Her background is in social work and is dedicated to make all her services mental health supportive, safe and trauma sensitive.
Marie can also work with you to improve your posture, learn to breathe properly and show you how to relax so you can clear your mind, decrease stress and increase your energy and vitality.
Through her massage treatments and yoga classes, she soothes your tense muscles and strengthens weak muscles. She is particularly interested in myofascial release. Fascia is a band of tissue that lays beneath your skin which encloses, stabilises and supports your deeper muscles and internal organs. Tightened fascia can be the hidden cause of tension within your body and the gentle release of the tension in these tissues can provide you with an immediate sense of relief.
While it can be easy to quieten our body when it's in pain, its not always as easy to quieten our minds. Its an accepted fact that our mind is "our boss", so Marie can also teach you practical relaxation techniques to ease mental stress and overwhelm often associated with the hectic pace of the daily lifestyles we lead. Marie runs regular meditation and mindful yoga sessions which support your mental health. We attend to our physical needs and hygiene regularly but forget to clean up within ourselves. Regular practise of grounding, opening and releasing of all imprints from memories, emotions and experiences that don't serve us any more is essential for our mental wellbeing.
